QAS paramedic airlifted from Fraser Island after being assaulted

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter from Bundaberg was tasked to Happy Valley on Fraser Island Friday afternoon at 5:30pm to assist a Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedic who was assaulted.

Due to the nature of the mission a Queensland Police Service officer from Bundaberg was also transported by the rescue helicopter to the scene to investigate and to seal off the scene.

The QAS intensive Flight Paramedic treated the 56-year-old male patient for injuries to his arm and abdomen and was airlifted to the Royal Brisbane Hospital in a stable condition.

Further enquiries should be directed to the Queensland Police Service or Queensland Ambulance Service media units.
