Pedestrian hit by truck in Queensland’s Wide Bay-Burnett

A Queensland woman has been severely injured after being struck by a truck in the South Burnett region, requiring the urgent air-medical assistance of the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter service.

The pedestrian, who is aged in her 60s, was crossing the D’Aguilar Highway on the outskirts of Blackbutt during her morning walk when the accident occurred sometime before 9.30am.

She suffered serious head injuries.

An RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was immediately dispatched to the woman’s aid from LifeFlight’s Sunshine Coast base shortly after 9.30am.

She was airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical condition.
