Injured French tourist flown off Fraser

Bundaberg's RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter has flown to Fraser Island at 8:38 AM to attend to an injured backpacker north of Happy Valley.

The patient was a 31 year old male back packer from France, who had been travelling around Fraser Island in a four wheel drive (4WD).

After taking photographs from the top of his 4WD, the man jumped from the top of the vehicle onto wet sand mistaking it for a soft landing spot and sustained a suspected fracture to his left leg.

Queensland Ambulance Service staff attended to the patient at the scene before transporting the man to Happy Valley where the CareFlight chopper crew was waiting.

The Bundaberg based rescue helicopter then transported the man to Bundaberg Hospital in a stable condition for further treatment.
