Girl airlifted after being injured in AFL match

A 12-year-old girl has been airlifted by RACQ CareFlight Rescue after being injured while playing in an inter-school AFL match on the Sunshine Coast today.

RACQ CareFlight Rescue Aircrewman Scott Reeman said the girl collided with another player whilst going for the football.

“She suffered suspected neck pain,” he said.

The Sunshine Coast RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter was tasked to Maleny Showgrounds at 3pm.

Once on scene, the Critical Care Doctor and QAS Flight Intensive Care Paramedic on-board CareFlight’s helicopter assessed and treated the girl.

She was flown to Nambour General Hospital in a stable condition.
