Farmer airlifted with crush injuries

A 75-year-old man suffering crush injuries was airlifted by LifeFlight from a property around 80 kilometres south of Taroom today.

It’s believed the man was working alone on farm land when he was crushed by a falling bale of hay.

The injured man managed to crawl to a near-by road and flag down a passing motorist who then alerted emergency services.

LifeFlight’s Roma-based Surat Gas Aero-Medical Service (SGAS) helicopter was called to assist at the scene at around 11.30am.

The LifeFlight medical team assisted Queensland Ambulance Service Paramedics to treat the man for pelvis injuries.

He was then airlifted to Toowoomba Hospital in a stable condition.
