Elderly male airlifted after motorbike accident

The Toowoomba based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has airlifted a 70 year old male who had been involved in a motorbike accident along the Ipswich Boonah Rd shortly before 11:30 on Sunday morning.

The accident capped a busy weekend for RACQ LifeFlight crews who airlifted four motorcycle riders to hospital in four separate accidents. The latest accident involved a male rider from the Gold Coast hinterland, who was believed to have been riding towards Boonah.

A witness saw the bike swerve to avoid debris on the road, causing the rider to fall from his bike. The RACQ LifeFlight Critical Care Doctor and Intensive Care Flight Paramedic assisted the local QAS crew.

The medical team intubated the patient on the scene and treated him for a serious head injury. He was airlifted in a critical condition to the Princess Alexandra Hospital.
