Dramatic Kingaroy cliffside rescue after falling from horse

A 65 year old woman has been rescued from the side of Mt Wooroolin near Kingaroy after falling from a horse and tumbling 20 meters down the side of a cliff this afternoon.

The woman was riding the rocky horse trail with her husband when her horse stumbled causing her to fall off and down a steep slope.

The horse also fell down the cliffside, briefly landing on the woman, then rolling off her.

Her husband alerted the authorities and the Toowoomba based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was tasked to airlift the woman at 2.45pm.

When the RACQ LifeFlight crew arrived the woman had been extracted by the Kingaroy Fire Department, Kingaroy Police and Kingaroy Swift Rescue team.

The Kingaroy Ambulance Service treated the woman for a fractured arm and possible fractured pelvis.

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter transported the woman to Toowoomba Hospital in a stable condition.

The horse was also rescued and is believed to be uninjured.
