CareFlight called to Bruce Highway crash

A man in his mid-40s has been airlifted by RACQ CareFlight Rescue following a single vehicle crash on the Bruce Highway at Bells Creek this afternoon.

The driver was travelling north on the highway when he lost control of the vehicle approximately five kilometres north of the Ettamogah Pub.

The car veered off the highway and came to rest on the median strip.

He was entrapped in his vehicle for about one hour before emergency services could extricate him from the wreckage.

The Sunshine Coast RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter was tasked to the scene at 4pm, landing on the highway within 15 minutes.

CareFlight’s Critical Care Doctor and the QAS Intensive Care Flight Paramedic on board the helicopter treated the man for suspected head and facial injuries.

He was flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a stable condition.
