CareFlight assists at New England Highway crash

The Toowoomba RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter has airlifted an 82-year-old man from the scene of a motor vehicle accident on the New England Highway, south of Toowoomba.

It’s understood a single vehicle came off the road, crashing into a ditch, causing a male occupant to suffer multi-trauma injuries including suspected spinal injuries.

The rescue helicopter was tasked from the Clive Berghofer CareFlight Centre in Toowoomba to a section of the highway in East Greenmount at approximately 2.30pm this afternoon.

The crew quickly arrived at the crash site and assisted emergency services crews to treat two patients at the scene of the accident.

Once stabilised, the man was airlifted to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane.

A female passenger was transported to Toowoomba Hospital via road ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.
