CareFlight airlifts toddler after being run over by car

A one-year-old boy has been airlifted to the Gold Coast by an RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter after he was run over by a car on a property at Kyogle in New South Wales yesterday afternoon.

The toddler was reportedly struck by the vehicle’s front wheel when it rolled backwards over him.

He sustained suspected abdominal injuries and lacerations.

The toddler was originally transported to Lismore Hospital last night before RACQ CareFlight Rescue was called in at 8.45am today to fly the patient to specialist care on the Gold Coast.

He was flown to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition on board CareFlight’s Brisbane-based AW139 helicopter.

The boy’s mother accompanied him on the flight.
