CareFlight airlifts seriously injured teen from car crash

A 19-year-old woman was airlifted by CareFlight following a single vehicle accident near Rolleston in Central Queensland this morning.

Two rescue helicopters and local emergency service ground crews were called to assist at the scene of the accident which involved four people.

CareFlight’s Roma-based Surat Gas Aero-Medical Service (SGAS) helicopter was tasked to the accident approximately 20 kilometres from Rolleston at 8.20am.

It’s understood the 19-year-old driver of the vehicle became entrapped as a result of the accident.

Once on scene, the CareFlight clinical crew on board the helicopter assisted emergency services personnel to treat the occupants of the vehicle.

The female driver was then airlifted by CareFlight to Rockhampton Hospital suffering suspected head and arm injuries.

The patient travelled in a serious but stable condition on board the helicopter.

A second patient was airlifted by the local Rockhampton community rescue helicopter service, whilst two other patients were transported via road ambulance.
