Bundy RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Chopper on-air appeal - Call in to 4BU / HITZ93.9 to pledge your support

The Bundaberg RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Chopper Appeal ten week appeal has reached the half-way mark and local businesses and individuals are being encouraged to pledge their support on Monday on Classic Hits 4BU and HITZ93.9.

In a first-time ‘phone-in’ partnership with a charity, Classic Hits 4BU and HITZ93.9 will show their on-air support for the Wide Bay-Burnett RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Chopper Appeal on Monday October 10.

The chopper appeal has the goal of raising $580,000 to provide vital upgrades and maintenance for the local Bundaberg-based helicopter.

Listeners are encouraged to ring the stations during the Breakfast, Morning, Afternoon and Drive shows with their Bundaberg RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter stories and are also asked to support the appeal with a donation.

Bundaberg Broadasters' General Manager Trish Mears said they were delighted to be part of the Bundaberg Appeal.

"The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter does such an incredible job serving our community in times of need," said Trish.

"We urge businesses and residents to get behind the Appeal on both Hitz93.9 and Classic Hits 4BU and phone us on Monday.

“We'll be ready to take their pledges and help the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter to continue their great work".

Business and individuals who donate will receive an on-air shout out and the appeal will also feature on the station’s Facebook pages.

LifeFlight’s Fundraising Executive Manager Leanne Angel said she was grateful for the support from the Bundaberg community.

“We would love businesses and individuals to call in and donate to the on-air appeal on Monday,” said Ms Angel.

“All the money raised by the local community will be spent on upgrading the local Bundaberg chopper and allow us to continue to save lives, which comes at an enormous cost.

“We are looking forward to having the chopper and crew fitted with Night Vision Goggle capability which will allow us to land the aircraft almost anywhere at night.”

All funds raised from the appeal will go directly to the Bundaberg RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter and will include other essential works including an overhaul of the rescue hoist, rotor blade and tail rotor upgrade, structural enhancement and engineering works.

In the past year, the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has performed 262 missions in the Wide Bay-Burnett region, airlifting patients to receive urgent medical treatment they need.

Tune in Monday 10th October to Classic Hits 4BU an HITZ93.9, and register for the Appeal from 8.30am by calling 07 4153 0800.
