Tourist airlifted from Fraser Island following car accident

An international tourist has been airlifted from Fraser Island by the Bundaberg RACQ CareFlight helicopter this afternoon, after the 4WD she was traveling in unexpectedly left the road and struck a tree.

The woman, a Mauritian national in her early-30s, was a passenger in the hire vehicle and suffered suspected chest and neck injuries as a result of the crash.

She was treated at the scene by the CareFlight medical crew before being transported from Cathedral Beach helipad to Hervey Bay Hospital in a stable condition.
