Rescue Helicopter Winches Paramedic to Injured Teen on Fraser

The RACQ Careflight Rescue Helicopter of Bundaberg has performed a rescue at Fraser Island sometime after 1:30PM this afternoon.

A young male in his early teens has sustained suspected spinal injuries from an incident that occurred at Kirra Sand Blow on Fraser Island.

Due to the nature of the terrain, RACQ CareFlight crew members had to winch a paramedic down to  treat and  stabilised the young patient  at the scene.

The paramedic with assistance walked the patient to meet QAS staff, who then transported the patient by car to Happy Valley and then flown to Harvey Bay Hospital.

This was the third mission flown by RACQ CareFlight Rescue’s Bundaberg crew and a monumental effort on their last day of service in 2015.
