Pilot airlifted by CareFlight after Tiger Moth crash

RACQ CareFlight Rescue has airlifted a 21-year-old man from the scene of a light plane accident near Norwell, north of the Gold Coast today.

The Sunshine Coast-based rescue helicopter was tasked to the site where the Tiger Moth had crashed at 9.45am this morning.

CareFlight’s clinical team assisted Queensland Ambulance Services officers to treat the patient at the scene of the accident.

The young pilot sustained multiple trauma injuries as a result of the crash.

He was airlifted to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

A male passenger who was travelling in the aircraft died at the scene.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are unknown.
