Motorbike rider airlifted after crash on Bruce Hwy

RACQ CareFlight Rescue’s Bundaberg helicopter was activated to the Bruce Highway 20 kms south of Gin Gin Sunday afternoon, after a motorcycle rider was involved in an accident.

The 67 year old man from New Zealand suffered chest and arm injuries. It’s believed the rear wheel locked up, sending the rider sliding along the highway. No other vehicles where involved in the incident.

The patient was treated for his injuries on scene and then airlifted to Bundaberg Hospital in a stable condition.

Due to the location, the rescue helicopter landed on the highway closing it in both directions for 30 minutes with the assistance of the Queensland Police Service.
