Man airlifted following tree lopping accident

A 68-year-old Sunshine Coast man has been airlifted from a Conondale property by RACQ CareFlight, after the tree he was cutting down fell and pinned him beneath it.

It is believed that the man had been cutting down trees on a friend’s property when the accident occurred, leaving him pinned by a large branch for approximately 1 hour.

The man was found and freed by friends, who called Queensland Ambulance Service.

The Sunshine Coast RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter was activated shortly after 11.30am, and the CareFlight medical team worked to stabilise the patient at the scene.

He was airlifted to the Royal Brisbane Hospital in a serious condition, suffering significant internal injuries.
