Man airlifted by CareFlight after near drowning

The Sunshine Coast RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter has airlifted a 24-year-old man after a near drowning at Inskip Point near Rainbow Beach.

It’s understood the man had been swimming at the beach before he was pulled from the water by on-site emergency services officers.

The Sunshine Coast rescue crew was tasked to assist the man at 10.00am this morning.

They flew to the scene of the incident and landed on the beach front.

The CareFlight Doctor and Paramedic departed the aircraft to assist the on-site emergency crews.

The helicopter then relocated to a nearby airfield at Rainbow Beach.

The young man was stabilised at the scene and transferred by road ambulance to the waiting helicopter.

He was then flown to Nambour General Hospital in a stable condition.
