Firies and locals teeing off to help CareFlight

The Wondai Firies has teed up a Charity Golf Day for Saturday May 2 to help raise vital funds for RACQ CareFlight Rescue.

The seventh annual Wondai Firies Charity Golf Day is set to be a smash with golfers and non-golfers alike, hitting off for fantastic prizes and helping the community helicopter rescue service stay in the air.

RACQ CareFlight Rescue’s North Coast Fundraising Manager Angela Miles said the event is a great way to enjoy social golf and make a contribution to a worthy cause.

“The event will be a terrific day on the course, with the added bonus of knowing you’re making a vital contribution to CareFlight,” Ms Miles said.

“Golfing talent is absolutely optional.

“We encourage players of all abilities to give it a go, because the day really is all about having fun.”

CareFlight relies on the generosity of the community to help generate more than a third of its funding.

“Events like this are extremely important to CareFlight, as each of our critical rescue missions costs more than $12,500,” she said.

“Our not-for-profit organisation is extremely grateful to the Wondai Firies for organising this event for us, as we simply couldn’t provide our lifesaving service without the generous support of locals.”

The charity event will tee off at 10am at the Wondai Country Club on the Bunya Highway on Saturday May 2 and registrations are now open.

Entry into the two-person Ambrose event costs just $15 per person and includes 18 holes and a lucky entry prize.

There will also be a delicious sausage sizzle available all day, a raffle with great prizes, and trophies up for grabs.

Locals are encouraged to sign up for this fantastic community event, with all proceeds from the day going to RACQ CareFlight Rescue and the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services’ Bike for Burns charity bike ride.

To register for the Wondai Firies Charity Golf Day call Steve on 0447 787 082 or Chris on 0437 685 996.
