Emerald boy airlifted from Fraser Island

A boy has been airlifted by RACQ CareFlight Rescue following a sand boarding accident on Fraser Island.

The Emerald local was sand boarding down a sand dune when he fell off and injured his lower leg.

He suffered a suspected fractured leg.

The Bundaberg RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter was called to the Orchid Beach helipad on Fraser Island at about 11am.

The boy was flown to Hervey Bay Hospital in a stable condition.

His mother accompanied him on the flight.
