Early morning car crash ends in airlift

The RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter was called to the scene of a serious single-vehicle car crash just after 4am this morning at Applethorpe on the New England Highway.

Two people were injured in the crash and were initially transported by the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) to Stanthorpe Hospital for treatment.

It was determined one male patient, aged in his 20s, required further treatment for multiple injuries and CareFlight was called in to fly him to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane.

The man travelled in a critical condition.
