CareFlight airlifts man trapped in semi-trailer rollover

A 61 year old truck driver has been airlifted by RACQ CareFlight Rescue after his semi trailer rolled on the Millmerran – Cecil Plains Road near Millmerran late this morning.

The male driver sustained suspected spinal injuries and was trapped in the vehicle for roughly an hour before emergency services were able to free him.

Toowoomba-based CareFlight Pilot Simon Newman commended the actions of ground emergency services crews who secured the area quickly, allowing a safe highway landing.

After he was freed, a Critical Care Doctor and Flight Intensive Care Paramedic on-board the Toowoomba-based helicopter treated the man for serious injuries before flying him to the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

The patient travelled in a critical but stable condition.

The man is the second motor vehicle accident patient CareFlight has airlifted today.

A 50 year old woman suffering suspected spinal injuries from a single vehicle rollover in Gayndah this morning was transported from Gayndah Hospital to Bundaberg Base hospital by the Bundaberg RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter.

The woman travelled in a stable condition.
