CareFlight airlifts injured woman from Sunshine Coast beach

A woman in her early 20s with a suspected head injury has been airlifted from Teewah Beach, near Noosa on the Sunshine Coast by RACQ CareFlight Rescue.

It’s believed the young woman had been riding a motorbike along the beach when she fell over the top of bike’s handlebars, resulting in a suspected head injury.

The Sunshine Coast-based helicopter was tasked from the Roy & Nola Thompson Hangar in Maroochydore shortly after 9.00am this morning.

The helicopter flew to the scene of the accident and landed on the beach front, nearby the patient.

The woman was treated on-site by CareFlight’s critical care doctor.

She was then flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical but stable condition.
