Young Girl bitten by dog in the Southern Downs

A 4 year old girl has been airlifted by RACQ CareFlight Rescue overnight after she was thought to be attacked by a dog in Stanthorpe in the Southern Downs region.

The young girl was bitten on the face and suffered lacerations to her nose and cheek.

The dog was not a pet of the family, however they had seen it in the area prior to the attack.

The Gold Coast based RACQ CareFlight Rescue crew were tasked to pick up the four year old from Stanthorpe Hospital shortly after 9pm last night.

She was flown to the Mater Children’s Hospital for surgery to treat the lacerations to her face. The girl travelled in a stable condition.

It is unknown at this stage what breed the dog was.
