Woman winched from Mt Coolum by CareFlight

The RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter has winched a woman from Mt Coolum after she suffered a cardiac condition.

The woman, who is in her 50s, was walking up the track with a family member at the time.

Emergency services on the ground weren’t able to reach the woman due to the isolated location, so the Sunshine Coast RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter was called in to retrieve the woman by air.

Once on scene, the QAS Flight Intensive Care Paramedic on-board CareFlight’s helicopter was winched down to the patient.

She was assessed and secured into a rescue basket and safely winched aboard the helicopter. The woman was flown to CareFlight’s Maroochydore base, where she was stabilised and transferred to a stretcher.

She was then airlifted to Nambour General Hospital in a stable condition.
