Woman kicked in face by horse

A woman has serious facial injuries after being kicked by a horse.

RACQ CareFlight Rescue was tasked from the Clive Berghofer CareFlight Base in Toowoomba to the Goondiwindi Hospital earlier today.

The patient has extensive facial fractures and swelling.

The team airlifted the woman, in her forties, to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane.

She travelled in a serious but stable condition.

The RACQ CareFlight Rescue teams have been kept busy today, attending eight missions in just 18 hours.

Last night three crews worked into the early hours of the morning transferring three patients, two of them babies, from across South West Queensland.

The Sunshine Coast team treated and transferred an elderly motorcyclist with multiple leg fractures after his motorbike crashed at Mt Glorious this morning.

The Bundaberg crew has also been in the air again, airlifting an elderly man from Eidsvold Hospital to Toowoomba early today, only to return there this afternoon to airlift another patient in need.

Fifteen experienced pilots and 25 aircrewmen fly a fleet of six RACQ CareFlight Rescue community helicopters around the clock from four CareFlight bases.
