Woman airlifted with serious head injury after horse kick

RACQ CareFlight Rescue has airlifted a woman with a serious head injury after being kicked by a horse at a Pomona property this afternoon.

The Sunshine Coast based RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter was tasked to the property around 4.30pm to treat and airlift the injured woman, aged in her fifties.

She was stabilised by CareFlight’s Critical Care Doctor and Intensive Care Flight Paramedic before being flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

She travelled in a stable condition.

It is the second horse-related mission RACQ CareFlight Rescue has flown in the past week.

Last Friday, a young girl was also airlifted to the Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital after falling from a horse at property in Bergen, near Oakey.
