A fourteen month old child with second degree burns to her hands has been airlifted from Fraser Island by the RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter.

The Bundaberg crew was tasked to the Orchid Beach airstrip at 6pm tonight.

The family was holidaying on the island when it’s believed the toddler attempted to stand, placing both hands on the door of a hot oven.

She has received second degree burns.

Her right hand is the most badly injured.

The little girl was airlifted by the RACQ CareFlight Rescue crew to Bundaberg Base Hospital for further treatment.

The toddler’s mother travelled by her side.
