Three injured in head on collision, Crows Nest

The Toowoomba RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter rushed to the scene of a head on collision between a ute and a minivan this morning.

The accident happened on the New England Highway near Crows Nest.

Three were injured in the crash including a 59 year old male driver, who was flown to the PA hospital with multi-trauma injuries.

He travelled in a critical but stable condition.

The man's wife and the driver of the minivan involved were taken by road ambulance to Toowoomba Base Hospital with less serious injuries.

Emergency crews worked for several hours from approximately 9.30 this morning to free the driver of the ute.

One in 10 of all RACQ CareFlight Rescue missions are to treat and airlift patients seriously injured in motor vehicle accidents.
