Stradbroke medevac for Russian tourist

A Russian tourist has been airlifted from South Stradbroke Island this afternoon by the Gold Coast crew of RACQ CareFlight Rescue.

The 65 year old was suffering dizziness, profuse sweating and low blood pressure.

A Queensland Ambulance Service paramedic was initially sent to the Island by boat, but on assessing the patient RACQ CareFlight was called in.

The helicopter landed on sand dunes near Tipplers Resort where the man was treated for a suspected cardiac condition and stabilised for flight.

He was airlifted to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
