Second motorcycle rider airlifted by CareFlight

A Moreton Bay Region local has been critically injured in a single motorcycle accident this afternoon requiring the urgent airlift by an RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter.

The 55-year-old female was travelling along a stretch of road near Conondale, in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, when she lost control of the motorbike near a bend.

She veered off the road, hit a guard rail and plunged down a 20-metre embankment.

Emergency services transported the patient via QAS road ambulance to a nearby area of land where the Toowoomba RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter landed.

A QAS Flight Paramedic on board CareFlight’s helicopter treated and stabilised the woman for suspected fractures before airlifting her to Royal Brisbane Hospital in a serious condition.

This is the second motorcycle accident RACQ CareFlight Rescue has attended today.

The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter was tasked to the scene of a motorbike accident on a Sunshine Coast beach this afternoon.

Information on this mission can be found on CareFlight’s website.
