Mountain bike rider airlifted to Brisbane

A Brisbane man has been airlifted by the Gold Coast RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter after he sustained multiple injuries in a mountain bike crash north west of Beaudesert.

The 42-year-old was riding along a track at Lake Wyaralong, located at the base of Mt Joyce, when he lost control and fell off the mountain bike.

He suffered suspected collarbone and shoulder injuries, as well as a possible abdominal injury in the accident.

RACQ CareFlight Rescue Aircrewman Luke Pagano said the Gold Coast-based community rescue helicopter was the first to arrive on scene.

“CareFlight’s Critical Care Doctor and Flight Intensive Care Paramedic was winched from the helicopter to the injured man,” he said.

“The patient was then transported by road ambulance to a nearby area of land where the helicopter landed.”

He was airlifted to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition.
