Motorbike rider in beach crash airlifted to hospital

A man has been airlifted by RACQ CareFlight Rescue after being injured in a motorbike accident on a Sunshine Coast beach this afternoon.

The man, who is in his 20s, suffered a suspected spinal injury when he lost control of his motorbike on the beach at Noosa North Shore and was subsequently thrown over the handlebars.

The Sunshine Coast RACQ CareFlight Rescue crew was tasked to the scene at about 1.30pm to transfer the patient to Nambour General Hospital.

He travelled in a stable condition.

One third of all missions RACQ CareFlight Rescue flies require swift specialist attention.

This is the third mission the Sunshine Coast RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter has been tasked on today.

The crew attended a single motor vehicle accident near Maroochydore in the early hours of this morning to airlift a critical patient and flew to the aid of a Brisbane woman injured in a parachuting accident.

Information on both these missions can be found on CareFlight’s website.
