Motocross racer airlifted after crash

A 19 year old injured at a Motocross event at Leyburn has been airlifted to hospital by the Surat Basin Gas Industry Aeromedical Service.

The teenager who suffered a suspected sternum fracture was flown in a stable condition to Toowoomba Base Hospital.

He is the fourth trail bike rider across the State's south to be airlifted by CareFlight helicopters this weekend.

Three others were airlifted by RACQ CareFlight Rescue today and yesterday.

Details of these can be found under Latest News.

The Surat Basin Gas Industry Aeromedical Service began flying in April 2011, to minimise impacts on community medical services in Queensland’s far south west.

The Service donates the aircraft to the community and has airlifted nearly 150 seriously ill or injured residents in that time.
