Man airlifted suffering burns to face

RACQ CareFlight Rescue has flown to the aid of a man who was injured after flames from a controlled fire erupted in his face.

The incident occurred after the man, aged in his 40’s, added an accelerant to the small fire burning at a Beechmont property in the Gold Coast hinterland this afternoon.

The Gold Coast based RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter landed at a nearby paddock.

Its flight doctor and intensive care flight paramedic were taken to the scene to treat the man for burns to his face.

He was flown to the Royal Brisbane Hospital in a stable condition.
