Man airlifted after two-truck smash at Pittsworth

The RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter was tasked to a stretch of road near Pittsworth this afternoon to airlift a truck driver involved in a two vehicle collision.

The man was driving a small truck when he collided with a larger semi-trailer, becoming entrapped in his vehicle for a short period of time before emergency services could extricate him.

RACQ CareFlight’s helicopter landed in a nearby paddock with an intensive care paramedic on board who treated the man for facial and jaw injuries as well as lacerations.

The patient was then flown to Toowoomba Base Hospital for further scans and travelled in a stable condition.

The driver of the larger semi-trailer was unhurt in the incident.
