Injured motorcross rider airlifted by CareFlight Rescue

A 20-year-old man from Toowoomba has been seriously injured at QLD Moto Park at Coulson requiring the urgent airlift by an RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter.

The Gold Coast based helicopter was tasked to the property, 30kms from Beaudesert just after 10:45 this morning.

The helicopter landed at the property where its CareFlight Doctor and intensive care flight paramedic assessed the injured man for a suspected fractured femur.

The rider told the crew he was taking a jump when he crashed, injuring his leg.

“It seems he’s had an fall and come off his bike and the bike has landed on top of him,” CareFlight Aircrewman Troy Crook said.

“He’s in some pain but is stable and will be transferred to Brisbane’s Princess Alexandra Hospital for urgent treatment to his injured leg.”

The CareFlight helicopter will airlift the man shortly.

Nearly a fifth of all RACQ CareFlight Rescue’s missions in the South West involve the retrieval of patients from car crashes or accidents involving vehicles, such as motorcycles.

The Sunshine Coast based RACQ CareFlight Rescue chopper is currently landed at another motor cross park in Cooyar and is treating another rider who has been involved in a separate accident.

More details on this mission will be made available shortly.
