Dirt bike rider airlifted after crashing into barbed wire
A dirt bike rider has been flown to hospital after crashing into a barbed wire fence north west of Toowoomba.
The 19-year-old was riding on a private property in Kingsthorpe when he lost control on a turn and slammed straight into the thorny fence.
The RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter from the Clive Berghofer CareFlight Centre in Toowoomba landed on the property around 4pm.
CareFlight’s Critical Care Doctor and Flight Intensive Care Paramedic treated the young man for a suspected pelvic injury and cuts.
He was airlifted to Toowoomba Base Hospital in a stable condition.
This is the third air-medical rescue the Toowoomba RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter has been tasked on today.
The crew responded to a quad bike accident in Beaudesert, where they airlifted a child with suspected head, spinal and abdominal injuries to the Mater Children’s Hospital.
