Child airlifted after bicycle strikes tree

A little girl has been airlifted by the Sunshine Coast RACQ CareFlight Rescue with suspected head injuries after her bike struck a tree this morning.

The child was riding on the slopes of the property south of Dayboro when she lost control of the bike and crashed into the tree.

“The Queensland Ambulance Service treated and transferred the little girl to a helipad at the nearby Samsonvale Rural Fire Brigade Station so that we could airlift her,” RACQ CareFlight Aircrewman Rick Harvey said.

The child was flown to the Royal Children’s Hospital in a stable condition.

It’s not known if the child was wearing a helmet when the crash occurred.
