Woman suffering respiratory distress airlifted from Fraser Island

RACQ CareFlight Rescue has flown to the aid of a 58 year old woman on Fraser Island suffering respiratory distress.

The Brisbane woman was holidaying on the island when she began experiencing symptoms earlier today. It cannot be confirmed if smoke caused by fires on Fraser Island contributed to her condition.

The Bundaberg-based RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter landed at the Orchid Beach airstrip where its intensive care flight paramedic and QAS paramedics treated the woman.

She was airlifted to Hervey Bay Hospital in a stable condition.
