Tiger trainer airlifted by RACQ CareFlight after mauling
An animal trainer bitten by a tiger on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland has been airlifted to the Royal Brisbane Hospital by the RACQ CareFlight Rescue crew.
It’s believed the man, in his 30s, was bitten by the tiger on the neck at Australia Zoo just before 3pm (Queensland time).
The patient was initially assisted on-scene by fellow handlers before CareFlight’s intensive care medical team arrived and assisted local paramedics.
The Sunshine Coast RACQ CareFlight Rescue crew treated the man on scene before airlifting him to the Royal Brisbane Hospital. The helicopter arrived in Brisbane at 4.30pm (Queensland time).
He travelled in a serious but stable condition.
