School chopper landing celebrates studentís survival

Just seven months ago, prep student Patrick O’Sullivan was flung from an amusement park ride at a school fete north of Toowoomba.

He fell 10 metres, suffered serious head injuries and was rushed to the Mater Children's Hospital by the RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter in a critical condition.

Not only did the five year old survive against all odds, he’s now back into school life with his friends at Mary MacKillop Catholic School.

To celebrate Patrick’s return, and to thank the school community for its unwavering support, the RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter and crew made a special appearance at Mary MacKillop Catholic School on Wednesday 4 December.

Hundreds of students got up close look inside the CareFlight Rescue helicopter that saved their mate.

The school even held a free dress day and raised an impressive $500 for the not-for-profit helicopter rescue service.

Patrick and his parents, Emily and Barry O’Sullivan, were the guests of honour at the special event and our crew loved showing little Paddy around 'his' helicopter.
