Roma Charity Rodeo to rope in cash for CareFlight

Roma’s top bull riders will saddle up in the name of charity this week for the Roma Charity Rodeo on Saturday 7 September at Bassetts Park.

The Queensland Rodeo Association event raises vital funds for RACQ CareFlight Rescue through a charity auction.

RACQ CareFlight’s Suzie Washington says the event will feature all the rodeo crowd favourites.

“The arena action will feature bull riding, saddle bronc, bareback and barrel racing,” Ms Washington said.

“There will also be events for the newcomers including novice bull riding and junior steer riding as well as events for the ladies.

“The riders will be competing for more than $8,000 in prize money,” she said.

Ms Washington said the event promises a lively atmosphere.

“We’ve got some great live music by the El Vaquero Band, the bar and canteen will be open until late and the charity auction will be hotly contested,” she said.

Some prizes up for auction include an esky full of goodies, custom designed jewellery, food and wine hampers and, of course, RACQ CareFlight Rescue teddy bears.

“The rodeo is a great fundraiser for RACQ CareFlight, the more support we can get from the community, the more we can raise,” Ms Washington said.

The Roma Charity Rodeo kicks off at 3pm on Saturday 7 September.

Tickets are just $5 per person or $15 for families and can be purchased at the gate.

All money raised from the charity auction will be donated to RACQ CareFlight Rescue.
