Missing woman found in flood waters

A woman missing in flood waters has been found by the RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter as her vehicle began taking on water.

The Cooloola local was reported missing to authorities around 2.30pm after she lost control of her vehicle and slid into flood water in the Tuan State Forest, south of Maryborough.

The helicopter was tasked to the search and in less than an hour located the 50 year old and her vehicle amidst the dense bushland.

Rescue Crew Officer Richard Mitchell was winched down to the woman stranded by the rising water. She was cold and wet but otherwise unharmed.

Forestry workers arrived on the scene soon after and drove the woman to higher ground where the CareFlight helicopter was able to land.

The helicopter’s flight paramedic assessed the woman who was in a stable condition and did not require medical assistance or evacuation. Forestry workers later pulled the woman's vehicle from the water.
