Man bitten by snake on finger

A 49 year old man has been airlifted from Goondiwindi in the state’s south west after he was bitten by a snake.

RACQ CareFlight Rescue was tasked from Toowoomba to retrieve the man this morning.

“We airlifted the patient from Goondiwindi Hospital with a snake bite to his finger, CareFlight Aircrewman Mark Arthur said.

The man was gathering firewood on his Goondiwindi property when he was bitten on the middle finger of his left hand by what’s believed to be a brown snake.

He was airlifted to the Toowoomba Base Hospital as a precautionary measure.

“As the weather heats up it’s probably a timely reminder that snakes will also be out and about enjoying the warmer conditions, Mark Arthur said.
