Fillies and frocks to raise funds for choppers

RACQ CareFlight Rescue is a sure bet on Melbourne Cup Day, having been named the charity beneficiary for the popular Rotary Club of Toowoomba City’s Melbourne Cup Luncheon on Tuesday 5 November.

Proceeds will be donated to CareFlight’s Toowoomba service which flies to the aid of hundreds of sick and injured locals each year.

The luncheon kicks off at 10am at Picnic Point Function Centre with a fashion parade of this season’s latest fashion from Myer Toowoomba.

The event will have sweeps, raffles, auctions, a hobby horse race and fine food and wine from one of Toowoomba’s top restaurants, Picnic Point.

RACQ CareFlight’s Suzie Washington says CareFlight has been a beneficiary of the local Melbourne Cup Luncheon for a number of years.

“CareFlight is grateful for the support of the Rotary Club of Toowoomba City who has chosen to donate to our helicopter rescue service once again through this exciting event,” she said.

“It’s time to dust off the hats and fascinators and dress to impress. We encourage locals to purchase tickets and support RACQ CareFlight Rescue,” Ms Washington said.

There will be prizes on the day for the best dressed lady, gent and couple as well as other prizes.

Tickets are $95 and can be purchased by phoning 0417 641 871 or emailing jvenn@optusnet.com.au
