Collision between truck and car

The RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter has flown to the aid of a critically injured woman involved in a multi-vehicle crash on the Fraser Coast.

The 21 year old was the driver of a car which collided head-on with a semi-trailer along Maryborough-Hervey Bay Road at Dundathu.

The impact saw both drivers lose control of their vehicles and veer off the road. The truck ploughed through several metres of mud and bushland before coming to rest. Up to three other cars also veered off the road to avoid the collision.

The helicopter landed approximately 50 metres from the crash scene, where its flight doctor and intensive care flight paramedic treated the woman for multiple trauma injuries to her head and limbs. She was airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical condition.

The driver of the truck and those travelling in the other three cars escaped without serious injury.
