Chopper skirts storm cells to airlift Stanthorpe woman

A 36 year old Stanthorpe woman was airlifted by the Toowoomba RACQ CareFlight crew overnight after a single vehicle rollover at Texas.

The woman has suspected neck injuries, and was unconscious for an unknown time after the crash.

She was airlifted back to Toowoomba Base Hospital in a stable condition.

The CareFlight crew skirted around a series of storm cells, to return to Toowoomba.

“As we arrived in Texas there was a bit of lightning,” RACQ CareFlight Air Crewman Mark Arthur said.

“It was fairly mild when we took off, but another cell developed to our left and we went around to Dalby to come in behind it,” he said.

“The temperature outside the helicopter at 5,000 feet was 30 degrees.”
