Benarkin man airlifted after angle grinder explosion

A man in his 30s has suffered an eye injury after the blade from an angle grinder disintegrated while he was sharpening mower blades.

The RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter team from the Sunshine Coast was immediately tasked to the scene, landing at Benarkin State School oval just after 10am.

CareFlight's medical team, including a critical-care doctor and flight paramedic, provided emergency treatment on-scene before flying the patient to the Royal Brisbane Hospital for further treatment.

The man travelled in a serious but stable condition.
