Two motorcyle accidents in two days near Wivenhoe Dam

The RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter has flown to the scene of a motorbike crash on the Wivenhoe-Somerset Rd this morning.

It’s the second incident that’s occurred on the same stretch of road in the past two days.

RACQ CareFlight Air Crewman Mark Arthur said the crew were tasked to treat and airlift a 21 year old male at around 10am this morning.

“The man was riding his motorbike near the Wivenhoe Dam when he accidently hit a kangaroo and crashed his bike,” he said.
“He sustained a fractured left leg and fractured ankle in the accident.

“We airlifted him to the Toowoomba Base Hospital in a stable condition.”

On Sunday, the RACQ CareFlight Rescue crew flew to the same stretch of road to airlift another male motorbike rider.

A 28 year old male had to be treated for multiple fractures to his right-hand side and a possible spinal injury after he missed an approach to a bridge and went down a gully.

The patient was airlifted to the PA Hospital in a stable condition.
